Iberian Lynx

Habitat: Its typical habitat is the Mediterranean forest, at altitudes between 400 and 1,300 m. except in the Doñana region, where it lives at sea level.

How much does the Iberian lynx weigh and measure?

The lynx is a medium-sized feline, with a height of 60 to 75 cm and a weight of 18 and 30 kg.

He has a rounded face, with large ears topped by brushes of black hair, and long sideburns. The coat is brownish in color, mottled with black spots.

And this is one of the main reasons why their number is declining. The Iberian lynx has a highly specialized diet based on the rabbit, an animal that represents almost 80% of its diet.

The Iberian population of linzes with a total of 1,365 specimens currently registered, including adults, subadults and pups born in 2021.

The main reason why Iberian lynxes are in such danger of extinction is the massive hunting of the species during the 20th century. Currently, the main threats that this feline faces are lack of food, disease and being run over.
