GRAVITATIONAL FIELD

PHYSICS

DEFINITION

GRAVITATIONAL FIELD

Is a model used to explain the influences that a massive body extends into the space around itself, producing a force on another massive body.

18th century started the study of the gravitational field giving a basis for the next physicists. THEORY: force = contact between two bodies

ISAACNEWTON

1840: he rapresented a field with lines of force, which are tangent at each point to the field vector and are always entering the source mass

MICHAEL FARADAY

FIELD THEORY

ACTION A DISTANCE THEORY

THEORIES

Two bodies interact at a distance with each other. The force on the second body is due to the action of the first.

The action is mediated by the field. The first body modifies some physical properties of the space and creates a field around it: the second body interacts with the field and is affected by a force.

FIELD = gravitational properties of the surrounding space modified by a mass gravitational field = K

What is a gravitation field?

GRAVITATIONAL FIELD

Centrifugal forced field

A field generated by a point body of mass M

FORMULAS

A field with a test mass m

K = F / m

Fc=m*w*w*r.
