"Everyone disliked thinking about the eventual consequences...they had no interest in becoming junk dealers" (Hoshi 38). This shows humans bad interaction with the environment because they take advantage of their surroundings. Furthermore, everything they trash will eventually return to their surroundings, demonstrating an endless loop. By demonstrating forget for the environment, Hoshi underlines the significance of dealing with a problem head on rather than leaving it to others
“The villagers cut down some trees, tied them with rope and made a fence which they put around the hole” (Hoshi 12) The benefit of the rest of the town and the people who lived there, everyone in town came together to try to make the hole safer for the (Hoshi) villagers. This is necessary when working in order for a better planet because, cooperating and coming together, we can all benefit the Earth and ourselves by strengthening our relationship with it.
“If these forests were still cared for in the way Native people cared for them, we wouldn't be seeing as many cataclysmic fires” (Venton 14:33) Forests are currently highly overgrown and generally unhealthy. We could have a happier Earth if we let Native Americans care for the land the way their ancestors taught them because the dead plants aren't contributing nutrients to the soil, they are a barrier to creating a beautiful area where other plants can thrive without being restricted. We can develop a happier and healthier connection to the Earth if we allow Native people to care for it making a lasting impact for future generations
“Respect one another, support one another, bring your fist to the world and receive the gift of others” (Kimmerer and Smith 22) We are able to build a better Planet by standing together and offering each other respect, support, and kindness. When you offer something back to the Earth after all she has given you, your relationship with her improves and develops in a positive direction. When you give or receive from others, we help strengthen our own relationship with the theme and to share with everyone on Earth who needs what you have to offer.
“I joined the environment club at my high school. However, I noticed that my classmates were talking about recycling, and watching movies about the ocean. It was a view of environmentalism that was catered towards an ineffective way of climate activism. One that blames the consumer for the climate crisis, and preaches that temperatures are going up because we forgot to bring a reusable bag to the store” (Bastida 1:44) This video demonstrates how Xiye Batista became aware of her distance from nature at a young age and decided she wanted to support. This example illustrates how badly humans interact with the environment. People were trying to save the planet poorly by doing things that only 1 person could do.
"People keep doing what they do because the vast majority doesn't have a clue about the actual consequences of our everyday life. (Thunberg 5:22) One of the most important things that needs to happen in order to make progress in fighting climate change is for people to understand their role. Science has advanced to the point that we can all find strategies to reduce climate change. Everything that's needed is a desire to succeed. When we all understand how everything we do affects our world, we can apply what we know to put a stop to climate change
