Transcript
The 2030 Agenda defines the 17 goals to be achieved by 2030 and is based on five key concepts: people, prosperity, peace, partnership and planet. The aim is to give a present and a better future to our planet and the people who live there.
AGENDA
THE 2030
Quality education is important to improve the life of people, communities and societies. Education helps to create a safe and sustainable world. Objective 4 isn’t limited to the primary education of children, but also focuses on the point of contact between basic and vocational education.
In ancient times, at first women could not receive adequate education, later they could, but not with men. The school represents the primary place in which the gender identity and personality of children is formed. Law 128 of the Italian Constitution stresses that schools must encourage respect for gender diversity and equal opportunities.
LAW 128
Malala Yousafzai was born in the Swat Valley in northwest of Pakistan. She has become an international spokesperson for the right of women to education and is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner.
MALALA YOUSAFZAI
At the age of twelve, using a pseudonym, she wrote a blog for the BBC in which she described life under the Taliban, who had banned girls from attending school.
After receiving death threats, at the age of fifteen, on her way home from school, some men boarded the bus she was on and shot. She went into a coma but survived and was sent to a Birmingham hospital for rehabilitation. She still lives there, as she’s still in the Taliban’s sights.
PREVENTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
Educating the new generations to this has also become an emergency to avoid violence against women. Schools must contribute prevention and information measures, because educating children means educating adults.
WHAT IS THE RESULT?
Girls marry before the age of 18, become teenage mothers and have a life of economic instability.
