Who's who process

Selection Each staff member selects seniors to be Who's Who nominees. This year, 174 seniors were nominated.

Applications Nominated students submit an application consisting of a resume and an essay about their contributions to the Bowie community.

Faculty Evaluations After the applications have been submitted, the entries are reviewed by a committee of previous Teachers of the Year and department heads. "I joined the committee last year as the newest Teacher of the Year and now serve as the Chair for the committee," Uzzle said. "I make sure we are meeting deadlines and moving through the nomination/application process. I make sure the ceremony is planned and executed."

Final Decision 24 seniors are selected as Who's Who honorees. "Who's Who at Bowie is the only award given solely by the faculty," Uzzle said. "It is not contingent on grades, but we consider a student's overall effect on the campus and Bowie community. Who's Who winners have left an obvious and significant impact in their time at Bowie."

Recognition Who's Who honorees were honored at a ceremony on April 20. Each honoree will have their portrait hung in the library for four years. Photo courtesy of Samantha Maldonado
