1. Introduction
Summary
It consists of tracking ovulation to prevent pregnancy : - take the temperature everyday before getting out of bed - check the cervical mucus (discharge) everyday - chart menstrual cycle on a calendar
Fertility awareness
The cervical mucus method is a way to identify fertile times to help you gauge the best days to have or avoid unprotected sex. Tracking the cervical mucus for either fertility or contraception is inexpensive and doesn't have any side effects. Some women choose to use the cervical mucus method for religious reasons.
Cervical Mucus Method
This method is based on the understanding that women with regular menstrual cycles lasting between 26 and 32 days are unlikely to conceive outside a specific range of days. It involves avoiding unprotected intercourse on specific days of the menstrual cycle (typically days 8 to 19)
Standard Days Method (SDM)
Also known as "pulling out," this method involves the man withdrawing the penis from the vagina before ejaculation. It aims to prevent sperm from entering the vagina. But in certain cases, the spermatozoa can go up in the vagina and cause pregnancy.
Withdrawal Method & Heat-based contraception
This method is applicable to women who are breastfeeding exclusively. The hormones produced during breastfeeding can suppress ovulation and delay the return of menstruation.
Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM)
The tubal ligation is a surgical procedure for female sterilization in which the fallopian tubes are permanently blocked, clipped or removed. Tubal ligation is considered a permanent method of sterilization and birth control.
