What is Academic Professional Practice?
The purpose of Academic Professional Practice (APP) is to take my academic skills along with professional, transferable skills and merge the two together to create/manage a project that will strengthen and challenge myself and both of these skill sets. Demonstrating academic and professional skills on a project of my choice will enable me to benefit the growth in myself and also benefit the community. To achieve the most out of this module my aim is to base my project more specifically on an area that will help provide connections, be beneficial in terms of employment once I finish my degree, and provide some experience in that field.
What is my understanding? What do I want to achieve?

Keywords
Project Based Learning is a student-centred method of instruction that involves 8 essential elements; it is founded on three oriented values: learning is context-specific, learners engage actively in the education process, and they achieve their targets via interpersonal relationships and the sharing of knowledge and understanding.Project work is a collaborative form of learning and have elements of experiential learning with active reflection and conscious engagement Students are assumed to be required to integrate current knowledge into real-world situations by formulating and refining questions, planning and carrying out investigations, obtaining, analysing, and interpreting information and data, coming to conclusions, and reporting findings.
I’m an awesome subtitle, ideal for giving more context about the topic at hand

Info
Planning a Project:
- Validate project definition- What needs to be done- Resources needed - Estimate workload - Develop Schedule - Costs - Plan for change - Communications - Project info
3. Building a project plan:
- Purpose- Multiple passes - Proactive project management- Important questions project planning should answer: - Why are we doing this project? - What is the project supposed to accomplish? -Who are the key stakeholders? The sponsor? The customers?
2. Key project planning principles/questions:
- Effective planning- Being organised - Good time management - Taking notes/Keeping track of progress
1. What will help me be successful in this project?
Project Planning & Research:
These two documents are evidence to show the planning and research I have completed to decide what I would like to base my project on, the research backs up the ideas I have been considering in my planning questions. Moving forward these two documents will help me to complete my proposal form.
Weaknesses:
Communication Skills are an area that I have previously Identified as an area to improve on. I have good listening skills and communication skills with familiar individuals. However, my communication skills need improvement when presenting ideas confidently and easily contributing ideas to people I don't know. A lot of this stems from confidence skills.
Info
The two pillars of presentation
Self Assessment & Skills Audit
- Another strength area is Managing Self. This skills area includes the following skills:
- Managing my time well
- Managing my pressure to avoid stress
- Delegating work to others
- Organising myself
Strengths:
- My results showed that Information Technology is one of the strongest skill areas
- This skills area includes the following skills:
- Using Microsoft Word
- Using Microsoft Excel
- Using Microsoft PowerPoint
Skills Audit test:
- I took a skills audit test to see what my strengths and weaknesses are so I have a clearer understanding of what skills are strong and what skills need to be developed further.
What is it: Asana is a site that tracks tasks easily and assigns deadlines to different tasks. The tasks are split into 3 different sections (to do, doing & done) this helps to keep track of what is complete and incomplete. I think I want to split my project into four sections; initial research - (planning the proposal), planning and preparing, execution and reflection. The initial research stage is understanding what the project is about and constructing the project idea. Planning and preparation is all of the research I need to do before I go into the school. This will include teaching methods and learning styles. The execution stage is for the time I'm spending in the school and finally reflection is to reflect on my project as a whole
Tracking Progress:
Using Asana:
This is my proposal form for my project which addresses my idea, vision, who benefits from my project and how I intend on managing it
Proposal Form
TASK: Reflective Writing
We don’t like to bore. We don’t want to be repetitive. Communicating in the same old ways is boring and doesn’t engage people. We do it differently. We annihilate boredom. We create things the brain likes to consume because they stimulate it.
Describe the problem you’re going to resolve and, above all, the reason why your idea is interesting

Reflection
I found that I participated in everyones presentations by asking questions and gave suggestions to my peers for their projects. For example, I suggested to Zoe if she couldn't give the children's books she collected during foodbank hours to arrange a children's competition. e.g. easter egg hunt/colouring competition with prizes.Another example, was to Bonny she wanted to host an event so I made the suggestion about creating posters and putting them around Doncaster to create awareness and promote the event.I also helped some of my peers set up their Asana's to track their tasks. I think by doing this it's made my understanding clear of how to organise and contributing to others is a way to push my confidence.
Feedback from peers:
- Everything I explored was in a lot of depth - shows my understanding - Everything is set out and logged professionally - Clear indication of what my plans and next steps are- My canva could be condensed - having 60+ slides is too much at this stageI felt that my presentation was clear and went well. I did feel very anxious having to stand up in front of the whole group but I believe I managed it very well.

Meeting Notes:
These are the notes from the meeting I had with Sophie. We discussed what I would be doing and a bit about the demographic of the school. We also discussed when I would be attending this will be once a week on a Tuesday. This meeting gave me an in sight to some of the contributing factors to why the school was ranked what it was by Ofsted.
