Auxiliary Nursing STUDIES

01

A Technician in Auxiliary Nursing Care or Nurse Assistant is a professional in the health field who has completed the studies of the Middle Grade of Nursing Assistant. These technicians are responsible for the care of patients in terms of feeding, grooming and mobility. The functions performed by these technicians are essential in any hospital or health center as they help to expedite the care of patients by the corresponding specialists. Technicians in Auxiliary Nursing Care are not only limited to general functions as we have discussed above, but can also specialize in specific branches within the health for greater job success such as nursing at work, geriatrics or mental health. This is an example of a Middle Grade of professional formation that can be studied either in-person or by blended-learning, as I am going to discuss now.

BLENDEDLEARNING

The online work is supported by a few hours of collective weekly face-to-face tutoring, in which the contents are reviewed and doubts are solved in a classroom at the educative center. Also, they would need to attend to those modules that, for its characteristics eminently practical, they require face-to-face assistance. On the other hand, there is also the possibility of arranging individual tutorials, in which the teachers attend to the particular doubts of each student. Therefore, with blended learning, students have face-to-face lessons, online lessons and individual autonomous lessons of guided study with contents in the Moodle platform.

Blended learning is an open model in which students set their own pace of learning based on their needs and availability. It is an educational modality through which students can study a training cycle from home, accessing an online platform where they are provided with the necessary didactic materials to carry out their learning (Moodle - AULES).

What does blended learning consist of?

At the beginning of the course, the tutor will tell you which modules require compulsory attendance and the specific teacher will explain how to deal with them.

Depending on the contents and the teacher, this 20% attendance can be managed in different ways.

There are some modules (few) in which it is compulsory to attend 20% of the total number of collective tutorials of the course.

Do I have to attend the school in person?

Yes, every evaluation (more or less every three months), you will have to take the theoretical-practical tests indicated by the teachers. There will also be exams in the ordinary evaluation and in the extraordinary evaluation in June. You will have the temporary planning of the in-person tests at the beginning of the course, so that you can reserve the dates. In the meantime, you will be learning, doing self-learning activities and studying at home.

Will I have to take exams?

In addition, in the higher degree cycles, you will have to carry out an end-of-cycle project in which, tutored by a teacher from the center, you will demonstrate the knowledge you have acquired.

The Work Center Training is compulsory in all the training cycles of medium and higher degree, including those of blended modality. Therefore, in the second year, at the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice in a company or organization in the professional sector you have chosen.

Will I be able to do an internship in a company?

Yes, the qualifications obtained in blended learning are absolutely as valid as those obtained in classroom training. Therefore, when you finish your studies, you will have an official qualification that will facilitate your entry into the labor market of the corresponding professional sector.

Is the qualification I will receive official and just as valid as in the classroom training?

IT TOOLSIN EDUCATION

03

Hundreds of digital education tools have been created with the purpose of giving autonomy to the student, improving the administration of academic processes, encouraging collaboration, and facilitating communication between teachers and learners. Here I am going to present some of the most popular that could be used, and are currently being used, in blended learning.

MENTIMETER RESULTS

LearningApps.org is a Web2.0 application created to support teaching and learning processes with small interactive modules. These modules can be used directly as teaching material but also for self-learning. The modules (called Applications) include a lot of different modalities of activities such as puzzles, timelines, complete the gaps exercises, test questions, identifying images, etc. You can create one of these applications or activities or you can explore and use one that is already created.

MENTIMETER and LEARNINGAPPS

Mentimeter is a helpful presentation-based digital tool that allows educators to make the most of its features for teaching, including quizzes, polls, and word clouds. The idea is to create presentations and/or activities with real-time annotations for the whole class, for groups or even individuals. Thanks to the use of mobile devices, a code is entered or a QR is scanned and the audience can connect to the presentation, where they can answer questions, provide comments, and easily interact with all the material provided in real time.

Padlet takes the idea of the notice board and makes it digital, so it's enhanced. This creates a space for teachers and students in education to share but in a way that's actually better than the real-world version. Unlike a physical notice board, this space can be populated with rich media, including words and images as well as videos and links too. All that and it's instantly updated for anyone sharing the space to see right away. Everything can be kept private, made public, or shared with a specific group. This is just one of the education specific features that shows the company built this with the needs of teachers and students in mind.

KAHOOT and PADLET

Kahoot! is an educational platform that is based on games and questions. Through this tool, teachers can create questionnaires, discussions, or surveys that complement academic lessons. The material is projected in the classroom and questions are answered by students while playing and learning at the same time. Kahoot! It promotes game-based learning, which increases student engagement and creates a dynamic, social, and fun educational environment.

Edmodo is an educational tool that connects teachers and students, and it is assimilated into a social network. In this one, teachers can create online collaborative groups, administer and provide educational materials, measure student performance, and communicate with parents, among other functions.

Socrative and edmodo

Designed by a group of entrepreneurs and engineers passionate about education, Socrative is a system that allows teachers to create exercises or educational games which students can solve using mobile devices, whether smartphones, laptops, or tablets. Teachers can see the results of the activities and, depending on these, modify the subsequent lessons in order to make them more personalized.

ClassDojo is a tool to improve student behavior: teachers provide their students with instant feedback so that good disposition in class is 'rewarded' with points and students have a more receptive attitude towards the learning process. ClassDojo provides real-time notifications to students, like 'Well Done David!' and '+1', for working collaboratively. The information that is collected about student behavior can be shared later with parents and administrators through the web.

Thinglink allows educators to create interactive images with music, sounds, texts, and photographs. These can be shared on other websites or on social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook. Thinglink offers the possibility for teachers to create learning methodologies that awaken the curiosity of students through interactive content that can expand their knowledge.

CLASSDOJO and THINGLINK

cK-12 is a website that seeks to reduce the cost of academic books for the K12 market. To achieve its objective, this platform has an open source interface that allows creating and distributing educational material through the internet, which can be modified and contain videos, audios, and interactive exercises. It can also be printed and comply with the necessary editorial standards in each region. The books that are created in cK-12 can be adapted to the needs of any teacher or student.

cK-12 and teded

TED-Ed is an educational platform that allows creating educational lessons with the collaboration of teachers, students, animators—generally people who want to expand knowledge and good ideas. This website allows democratizing access to information, both for teachers and students. Here, people can have an active participation in the learning process of others.

Animoto is a digital tool that allows you to create high-quality videos in a short time and from any mobile device, inspiring students and helping improve academic lessons. The Animoto interface is friendly and practical, allowing teachers to create audiovisual content that adapts to educational needs.

ANIMOTO and STORYBIRD

Storybird aims to promote writing and reading skills in students through storytelling. In this tool, teachers can create interactive and artistic books online through a simple and easy to use interface. The stories created can be embedded in blogs, sent by email, and printed, among other options. In Storybird, teachers can also create projects with students, give constant feedback, and organize classes and grades.

THANK YOUVERY MUCH!
