Cocaine is a highly addictive stimulant drug that is derived from the leaves of the coca plant, which is native to South America. It is a white, crystalline powder that is typically snorted, smoked, or injected. Cocaine produces a short-lived, intense high, characterized by feelings of euphoria, increased energy, and alertness. However, it can also cause dangerous side effects, such as elevated heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature, as well as paranoia, anxiety, and even psychosis. Long-term use of cocaine can lead to addiction, as well as physical and mental health problems.

In 1982, he was elected to the Colombian Congress as a representative for the Liberal Party However, Escobar's political career was overshadowed by his involvement in drug trafficking and violence. He used his position in Congress to push for legislation favorable to his criminal activities, and he also orchestrated a wave of terrorist attacks and assassinations against his political rivals. In 1989, Escobar launched his own political party, the "Patriotic Union," which he used as a front to gain more political power and legitimacy. However, the party was targeted by paramilitary groups and government forces. His legacy remains controversial, with some in Colombia seeing him as a Robin Hood-like figure who provided for the poor, while others view him as a ruthless and violent criminal who caused untold harm to the country.
