Medellín Cartel

Pablo Escobar (1949-1993) was a notorious Colombian drug lord and leader of the Medellin cartel. He became one of the world's wealthiest and most powerful criminals, responsible for large-scale cocaine trafficking, violence, and corruption. Escobar was known for his ruthless tactics, including ordering the deaths of politicians, police officers, and journalists who stood in his way. He was eventually killed by Colombian authorities in a shootout in 1993.

He used his position in Congress to push for legislation favorable to his criminal activities, and he also orchestrated a wave of terrorist attacks and assassinations against his political rivals. In 1989, Escobar launched his own political party, the "Patriotic Union," which he used as a front to gain more political power and legitimacy. However, the party was targeted by paramilitary groups and government forces. His legacy remains controversial, with some in Colombia seeing him as a Robin Hood-like figure who provided for the poor, while others view him as a ruthless and violent criminal who caused untold harm to the country. Pablo Escobar died on December 2, 1993. He was killed in Medellín, Colombia, on the rooftop of a safehouse.
