VLE.

A Virtual Learning Environment is a system designed to support teaching and learning in an educational setting.

VLEs offer a wide range of educational teaching opportunitiesfor online and blended learning.

VLEs enable teachers to add a variety of online resources and assignments into a learning menu. Each student can access the VLE through a unique username and password. Once inside their course, students can interact with their teachers and classmates.

A VLE should inc1ude:• The course syllabus • Administrative/Operative information.• A notice board • Student registration/ tracking facilities.• Basic teaching materials. • Additional resources, • Self-assessment tasks, which can be scored automatically.• Formal assessment procedures.• Electronic communication support including email, discussions, forums, chartroom, etc.

VLEs must serve a didactic purpose for:

Encouraging interaction

Promoting autonomy

Enabling collaboration

Allowing practice(learning by doing)

Focusing on meaning andsociocultural language use

VLEs Use:
