Emperor realized the effect of opium on China so he cut off opium at its source. He also arrested smugglers, forced drug rehab, closed opium dens, got rid of the pipes used to take the drug, then took on the issue with Britain. 3. Opium caused issues like bankruptcy, issues getting jobs, and issues with traders. The main issue was with Britain as they continually sold the drug to the Chinese despite the warning and law from China banning the drug in the country.
