Characters
In this story, three Indigenous Australian girls escape from a government settlement and undertake a long journey home. The girls, who are part of the Stolen Generations, are being forcibly removed from their families and sent to the settlement to be trained as domestic servants. The journey is made more difficult by the presence of a fence designed to keep rabbits out of farmland, which the girls use to guide them home. The book sheds light on the impact of government policies on Indigenous Australians and their families. It was adapted into a film in 2002.
Argument
Some interesting facts about Australia: -Australia is the world's sixth largest country by total area and the only country that is also a continent. -The Great Barrier Reef, located off the coast of Queensland, is the largest coral reef system in the world and is home to thousands of marine species. -Australia is home to many unique animals, such as kangaroos, koalas, and wallabies, that are found nowhere else in the world. -The Australian Outback covers a vast area of the country and is known for its rugged terrain, diverse wildlife, and ancient Indigenous rock art.
