EDITION #1
Five in Five
To help keep them top of mind, start each internal meeting with a reminder of our behaviors. Give recognition when you see these behaviors demonstrated in the meeting and positively challenge where you see them not being observed. To really keep you focused nominate someone to specifically be on the look out for the behaviors and provide a summary of what they saw. You can rotate this responsibility around the team.
1. Start meetings with our behaviors
Explore and note down what you can stop, start and continue doing to contribute to our culture and demonstrate our behaviors. A great activity alone but even better in a group - why not grab your team and work on this together? Download a fun visual template
2. Stop Start Continue
Identify your personal role model: pay attention who is naturally following a particular behaviors and focus on adapting/learning the way the role model is executing the behavior. If you're feeling brave, consider asking them to be your mentor?
3. Identify a role model
In our busy day-to-day lives it can be hard to find time for some self-development even though we all know the value it can bring. But learning doesn't have to be about putting hours aside - if you dedicated 15 minutes per week for development thats an hour a month. Think about what is feasible for you and block it out in your diary - try to commit to it for 4 weeks and see how you get on. Get a few colleagues to join you or even make it a team commitment - you could even use that time to try out some of the ideas in this five-in-five!
4. Diarise time for development
Taken from Atomic Habits by James Clear
Whenever you want to change your behavior, ask yourself: How can I make it obvious? How can I make it attractive? How can I make it easy? How can I make it satisfying? “A habit is a behavior that has been repeated enough times to become automatic.” “The ultimate purpose of habits is to solve the problems of life with as little energy and effort as possible.”
