Alcohol is common in our society. However, it can present serious health risks. Alcohol is consumed in alcoholic beverages. Alcohol passes into the blood through the digestive system. Then, the alcohol travels to the brain, and alters the way the brain functions. The effects of alcohol depend on the quantity consumed. After drinking alcohol, a person can experience loss of reflexes, blurred vision and intoxication. Intoxication can lead to unconsciousness and in extreme cases, death.
