Elizabeth was born on April 21st, 1926 in London. Her father was King George VI. George became King because his brother, King Edward VIII abdicated to marry an American divorcée, Wallis Simpson. She had a younger sister, Margaret. She married Prince Philip of Greece on November 20, 1947.

Elizabeth and Philip were in Kenya, on a formal visit, on February 6, 1952, when King George VI died of lung cancer at the age of 56. Elizabeth became Queen at 25 years old. Her formal coronation as Queen Elizabeth II took place on June 2, 1953, in Westminster Abbey. Prince Philip wasn't the King, he was Prince Consort. He died on April, 9th 2021. They were married for 74 years.

Elizabeth had 2 birthdays: Her real birthday was on April 21st. Her birthday as Queen was in June. To celebrate it, there was a parade on Horse Guards in London. It is called Trooping the Colour (a "colour" is a flag). For the summer, The Queen liked to go to Scotland at her favorite castle, Balmoral Castle. She died there on September 8th, 2022.
