Convencional cars vs electric cars
- A conventional vehicle acquires the energy that is stored in a fossil fuel, which is released through combustion inside a conventional heat engine. These fossil fuels are primarily derived from petroleum: gasoline and diesel.

Examples and Costs
Currently there are numerous cars that exceed top speeds of 240 kilometers per hour. In recent years, there has been an increase in engine power, each time within the reach of a broader segment of the population. However, it is important to consider what usual speed we are going to have. If we only use a car to circulate in urban environments and, at most, on ring highways, it is enough with a vehicle that reaches 100 kilometers per hour without exceeding 3000 revolutions per minute, which is normally the critical point at which the engine starts to suffer.
Speed
The cost of a maintenance service varies greatly between makes and models of vehicles, but can normally be found between $1,300 and $5,000.Performing preventive maintenance on your car is important, since with it you can keep your vehicle in better condition. Preventive maintenance consists of a periodic review, that is, taking your car to the mechanic without waiting for something to break down.
Maintenance
- Electric cars are vehicles powered by one or more electric motors that are powered by energy stored in an electric battery.
- Among the elements that compose them we find: charger, battery, voltage transformer, electric motor, etc. These parts are responsible for transforming electrical energy into mechanical energy.

Twizy
- The most affordable price in the electric supply in Mexico corresponds to the Renault Twizy model. According to the description of its manufacturer Renault, the Twizy can be charged in any domestic socket in just 3 hours and a half. Price from $343,200
E10x
- If what you want is an electric 4-seater, the JAC proposal could be of interest to you. Its E10x model is 4-door and promises an aerodynamic design. Its charging time is 6 hours, although it can do a fast charge in 42 minutes. Its price starts at $449,000, and includes its charger and its installation.
Examples and Costs
Leaf
- Nissan has a presence in the electric supply in Mexico with its Leaf model. And although its price starts at $964,900, it is a sophisticated electric model with intelligent systems to prevent rollovers. The Leaf's charging time ranges from 30 minutes to 16 hours, although the automaker offers the driver the possibility of charging the unit both at home and at one of the 270 points installed in the country.
Bolt EUV
- Bolt EUV is the model with which Chevrolet participates in the offer of zero emission vehicles in Mexico. It is an SUV that has acceleration and brake technology in a single pedal, as well as a power button. The price of the Bolt EUV starts at $939,900.
Examples and Costs
Currently, electric cars can reach and exceed speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour, something that demystifies that electric vehicles are slow. In zero-emission vehicles, its great acceleration also stands out. In fact, the electric motor offers its maximum power as soon as you step on the pedal. For example, the IONIQ 5 with a 72.6 kWh battery has a power of 305CV with the all-wheel drive version, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. A figure that speaks for itself.
Speed
Electric vehicles require less maintenance than conventional vehicles. The main component of any electric car is undoubtedly the battery and for it to work it must have coolant. Most electric cars have to renew the coolant every 100,000 miles. After having changed it for the first time, now you will have to change it every 120 thousand kilometers. The air filter is of the utmost importance in an electric car. Like an internal combustion car, it is best to change the air filter every 12,000 kilometers. The brake fluid, as in every car, must be at its point. It is recommended to change the brake fluid every 50 thousand kilometers.

Hybrid cars
- A car is called "hybrid" when it is powered by two engines that can be of a different nature: for example, an internal combustion engine and one (up to two) electric motor. A hybrid car can take advantage of both sources for energy and move economically and with excellent performance. Hybrid vehicles can circulate both in combination of both engines or in a purely electric way.
Hybrid cars
- Engine: in a hybrid car, you have the support of an electric motor that, in combination with the internal combustion engine, makes a more efficient use of energy. Hence, its operation is intuitive. On the other hand, gasoline cars have engines that, thanks to their turbo quality, give you great power in practice, even though the energy consumption is higher.
- Price: a hybrid car is more expensive due to its technology than a gasoline one. If you will use your new car to cover a few kilometers, a gasoline one is a good option.
- Repairs: a hybrid vehicle has a more modern operation that not any mechanical workshop will understand. You have to find the right professional mechanics to repair your vehicle when you need it. On the other hand, with a gasoline car, the mechanics will not be a problem, because being more conventional, you will have more options when taking it to the workshop.
Diferences between a hybrid car and a regular car
Toyota Corolla Hybrid
- This particular hybrid version is special, as it benefits from all the attributes that make this car unique such as reliability, spaciousness, good build quality, comfortable handling and an attractive design (better than previous generations). But besides everything, it is profitable. It has a 1.8 L combustion block and an electric one, the total power is 121 Hp. Price: $463,700.
Toyota Prius
- It is the best known hybrid by nature. It's reliable, enduring, with compelling build quality. It is not a visually attractive model, but it is quite efficient, with that the design does not matter. It has a 1.8 L combustion engine and an electric block, together they generate a total power of 121 Hp. Price: $438,100
Examples and Costs
KIA Niro
- If SUVs are your thing and you are looking for something "affordable", as a fuel saver, the Niro is your option. It is a relatively spacious car, with good connectivity and well equipped. It has a 1.6 L combustion engine and an electric one, both generate a total power of 146 Hp. Price: $603,900.
Hyndai Ioniq
- The performance is reasonable, although not as good as the Prius, we verified this in a head-to-head of Prius VS Ioniq. It has a 1.6 L gasoline engine and an electric one, together they generate a power of 141 Hp. Price: $575,200.

Which is the best?
Hybrid engines are a good balance point. They mix the best of two worlds, uniting the versatility and autonomy of combustion engines with the advantages of an electric motor capable of moving the car by itself or working in combination while feeding the battery autonomously through regeneration. Obviously, consumption in urban journeys is by default lower than in an engine exclusively powered by gasoline or diesel, although if they are used for the most part on the highway, this advantage fades. However, I also think that conventional cars are a very good option. The pros of the gasoline mechanics is that they are the cheapest in terms of acquisition price, they are lighter, they have a fun behavior in cars with a sports approach and their smoothness of operation is superior, in addition to the fact that year after year the engines are more friendly to the environment.
