Body alignment is a singers greatest tool. Standing with the corrct posture or body alignment allows a singer to use their voice to the best of their ability. Proper body alignment both grounds the singer, giving them more strength and depth in their tone, and relieves any and all tension in the body that may lead to vocal fatigue. Perfect body alignment is broken into 5 basic parts. Please click through the interactive icons to learn more about the 5 elements of perfect body alignment.
Feet are shoulder width apart.
Knees are slightly bent.
Hips are balanced over feet.
Sternum is lifted.
Shoulders are rested down and back.
Shoulders resting down and back: One quick way to tell if your shoulders are resting down and back is to check where your hands are resting. If your shoulders are resting down and back your finger tips should rest at the side of your legs and not on top of your thighs.
