Definition

ECO RADIO IS PART OF THE ECO 2.0 Universe, WHICH CAN BE DEFINED AS a strategy by the Ministry of National Education, in alliance with the British Council, in Colombia to promote English Learning.

To make easier English language comprehension in children ( from 6 to 11 years old) with Eco Kids and teens ( from 12 to 18 years old) with Eco Teens. To provide teachers with tools for teaching English throught Teacher Toolkit 2.0.

PURPOSE

• ECO KIDS 2.0 have three seasons, the first one with 16 episodes, the other two have 6 episodes each one.
• ECO Kids describe the adventures of Maxi, Irene and Ramon and their British friend, Indy Walker.
• ECO Kids present the story of the children previously mentioned, who decide to travel knowing the natural and cultural richness of Colombia.
• With their stories and anecdotes, children from all over the country will be able to learn English.
• By listening to the episodes, watching the videos and doing the activities English learning can become easy and fun.

• Eco Teens 2.0 let us to discover how English has impacted the life projects of Rosita, Lucho, Ana, and Aleja.
• Eco Teens 2.0 is produced by a group of teenagers, young people, and their English teacher, who discover how technology, community entrepreneurship, tourism, arts, sports, and English language learning can give us development opportunities.

• ECO 2.0 combines the transmission of high quality radio content, a series of teaching and learning guides and a platform with more than 3,000 English learning contents (http://eco.colombiaaprende.edu.co/).

• All of this is complemented by teacher training strategies that will reach more than 2,500 primary, secondary and middle school teachers by 2021.

• Among the contents, ECO Web offers access to a digital toolbox that includes textbooks, reading books, guides, lesson plans, and a bank of formative assessments in English.

• In 72 radio stations of the National Army, Colombia Stereo.
• On 78 local radio stations in coordination with 45 Certified Education Secretariats.
• On the web platform: eco.colombiaaprende.edu.co

• The ECO universe (web, radio, kids, teens) serves to promote the teaching and learning of English, and the National Bilingualism Program of the Ministry of Education.

• It is part of the four strategic lines of the Ministry of Education that seeks:

1. Increasing Teachers and Students motivation that inspire the English learning process. 2. Connecting Cultures. 3. Bilingualism Ecosystems. 4. Innovative content.

• Through ECO and #BeThe1Challenge, the Ministry of Education works as a team with teachers and official educational institutions, provides teaching and learning resources, as well as complements for teachers who wish to get innovative resources to reach students on a massive scale through the radio and the Internet.
