What Is a Text?
In the ESL programs, the term “texts” refers to any spoken, written or visual communication involving the English language. Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur, English as a Second Language, Elementary and Secondary, Competency 2 FAQ+, Winter 2016 ‘Authentic texts’ refer to materials that reflect natural speech or writing as used by native speakers. Teacher-made or adapted materials may qualify as authentic if they resemble real-world texts the students will encounter. QEP p. 175 Secondary, cycle 1
