Tanks
DIseases
The purpose of the tanks were to have another way of killing people kind of like a side of offence on the battle field. The importance of having tanks was that they had a big effect on the German morale. They were also critical to the allied victory. Once tanks became evented they became a large part of the war strategy. There were so many evolutions of tanks that got better and faster. There were also different types of tanks for differnet types of battles.
The first tank was invented in WW1 by the British. Some other interesting things about the tanks were that these weapons weighed around 28 tons, 10 M long, held up to 8 crew people. I wonder how these compare to tanks today. Its also interesting to wonder is there was never a tank. In conclusion taks were important the the war aspect.
Diseases had a big impact on people in the military in WWI. When soldiers where trianing that was a prime time to get a disease such as measles, mumps and chicken pox along with more serious diseases such as meningitis and pneumonia. Theses diseases caused a lot of sickness and deaths.
Many American soldiers arrived in Europe ill. This is becuase it took 7 to 15 days to cross the Atlantic and troops were packed in tight spaces on the ship making it hard to control the spred of illness. In 1918 a new type of flu, "spanish flu", spread to soldiers. This flu had a high death rate even with young healthy people, 25% of the army fell ill and 30,000 people died of this flu. One of the greatest successes of army medicine in WWI was the virtual elimination of tetnus because a tetnus antiserum was used on wounds. I wonder how the war would have gone differently if the spanish flu hadn't affected so many people. I also wonder what would have happend if there had been more vacines for the soliders like there are today. In conclusion, diseases were very common and harmful to people fighting in WWI.
