Armistice The armistice was agreed upon on Nov. 11, 1918, at 11 AM. The German Government suggested it because Austria-Hungary was beginning to separate and their alliance was breaking. While the Germans saw this as a peaceful way to end the war, the Allies saw this as Germany losing/giving up.
Russia The Treaty of Brest Litovsk was signed in Russia. Russia left the war in 1918 because they had their own affairs to attend to (Russian Revolution). Impact of Russia Leaving: Central Powers gained the eastern front, gaining millions of square miles.
United States Reasons the US joined the Allies: Germany attacked with unrestricted submarine warfare. -U-boats Zimmerman message to the Mexicans. Economic interest in loans to the allies. The location where US troops fought: Lusitania Impact: It rose morale for the Allies.
