Fast fashion is "fast" in several senses;
- Fashion trends change fast
- The production rate is fast
- Costumers decition to purchase is fast
- Delivery is fast
- Garments are worn fast

A recent survey cunducted by the Fashion Retail Academy found that 73% of 18-24 year olds belive influencer can be held somewhat accountable for the rise in disposable fashion.
Fast fashion is intertwined with social media and the celebrity/influencer culture. This means that when a celebrity or an influencer posts a photo wearing new clothing, the so-called fast fashion brands rushes to make it to please that influencer or celebrities following.

A 2022 report Unbearable Harassment: The Fashion Industry and Widespread Abuse of Female Garment Workers in Indian Factories, found that all the women they spoke to which in total were 90, had either experienced or witnessed gender-based violence and harassment, carried out by male supervisors or managers at the factories they worked at.
