The tapioca balls orginated from Asia, but in Taiwan in the 1980s the owner of Hanlin Tea Room saw tapioca balls and decided to combine them with his teas and cofffes. This gives us what we knw and love now to be boba tea. Boba tea is my favorite sweet treat. I will forever be indebt ro the creator for making my favorite food.
