Differences

Pacing guides are informed by the curriculum map.A pacing guide is a roadmap that breaks down curriculum into a linear progression of what to teach by weeks or months, spanning the duration of a course. Pacing guides provide a clear plan of standards needing to be taught in a sequential order that supports the logically progression of learning for students. They tell the teacher what to teach and when, along with milestones for assessments. Pacing guides show the progression of learning objectives taught and the time allotted which helps teachers prioritize their time spent on each objective as they plan out their daily lesson plans. Student achievement is greater with the use of a pacing guide as it ensures adequate time is spent teaching essential materials supportive of student mastery of learning. - Cescon, 2022
