ELOGIO DEL HORIZONTE "The Praise of Horizon" It is located in Cerro de Santa Catalina (Gijón, Asturias). It was created in 1990 by Eduardo Chillida. It is 10 meters high and 500 tons weight. It is popularly known “King kong’s toilet”.

IGLESIA DE SAN PEDRO St' Peter's church It is a Catholic temple. It is located in Campo Valdes, at one end of San Lorenzo beach and at the foot of the Cimadevilla neighborhood. It was the only parish temple in the town until 1893. Originally Gothic in style with numerous later additions, it is now historicist in style, inspired by the Romanesque and pre-Romanesque styles of Asturias.

EL ÁRBOL DE LA SIDRA "The Cider tree" The "tree" is made up of 3200 recycled cider bottles. It was built in 2013. It weights 8 tons and it lights up at night. Cider in Asturias is more than a drink, it is CULTURE. Cider is an alcoholic drink made from apple juice. There are a lot of typical asturian restaurants where you can drink cider and eat Fabada (beans), cachopo (meat) and arroz con leche (rice pudding). That is the most typical menu here in Asturias.

ESTATUA DEL REY PELAYO “Statue of King Pelayo” It is located in the Plaza del Marqués, near the Town Hall. Pelayo holds the Victory Cross in his right hand, which is the emblem of Asturias. Pelayo is considered the first monarch of the Kingdom of Asturias. It is 2.80 meters tall and weights four tons.

LETRONAS They were created in 2009 and became a sculptural and tourist emblem in 2011. They are next to the harbour. They were designed by Juan Jareño. They are made of solid steel. They are 25 centimeters thick, 3 meters high and weigh 10 tons. It is one of the places most visited by tourists.

AYUNTAMIENTO / PLAZA MAYOR Town Hall / Main Square TOWN HALL: It's located in the "Plaza mayor" (Main Square). The mayoress is Ana González. The work started on July 21st, 1861, and ended on September 3rd, 1865 It has got 3 floors. MAIN SQUARE: The "Plaza Mayor" of Gijón is a main square located in the center of the Asturian city of Gijón. There are many markets. You can access here from many places. There are "Sidrerías" to eat local delicious food.

PLAYA DE SAN LORENZO "St' Lorenzo's beach" San Lorenzo beach has 7,000 years old. It is located in the center of the city of Gijón. It measures 1,500 meters and is shaped like a shell. It extends from stairway 0 to stairway 16, at the mouth of the Piles River. It is the best known beach in Gijón.

ESTADIO DE FÚTBOL EL MOLINÓN - ENRIQUE CASTRO "QUINI" El Molinón - Enrique Castro "Quini" football stadium Molinón is the stadium of Real Sporting de Gijón. Molinón is the oldest stadium in Spain built in 1911. It is called the Molinon because before its construction there was a windmill. The Gijón field holds the record for attendance at a football match in Asturias with 43,000 spectators. This happened during the 1982 World Cup.

PARQUE ISABEL LA CATÓLICA Isabel The Catholic's park It is an urban park located in an area previously known as "Charca del Piles". It was designed in 1941 by Ramón Ortiz. The park has 151,857 m2. It has a large vegetation, it is inhabited by various animal species in freedom and semi-freedom.

UNIVERSIDAD LABORAL - CIUDAD DE LA CULTURA Labour University - City of Culture It construction began in 1946 and it was completed in 1956 by the engineer Ramiro Moya Blanco and the architect Luis Moya Blanco. It measures 130 meters and has 130,000 square meters. It was the headquarters of a Francoist institution. It has underground bunkers and very long corridors. It is built with cement, bricks, tiles, pink granite columns and marble floors. It is the largest building in Spain and the tallest in Asturias.

JARDÍN BOTÁNICO ATLÁNTICO Atlantic Botanical Garden The botanical garden was created in 2003 by Florencio Valdés. You can see a big variety of plants, trees and nature. It has about 25 hectares and It is located in Cabueñes. It is the only botanical garden in Asturias.

TEATRO JOVELLANOS Jovellanos theatre Jovellanos theatre was inaugurated in July 1899 and It is one of the oldest theatres in Spain. It is located on the Paseo de Begoña. It has hosted the Princess of Asturias Awards and the Gijón Film Festival. Before it was called Dindurra Theatre.

BIOPARK - ACUARIO Aquarium The aquarium has about 400 species and more than 4,000 animals. It is located on Poniente Beach. It was inaugurated on June 9, 2006. The visit lasts approximately 1:15/1:30 Hours. It has a tour of 60 fresh and salt water aquariums.
