In 1796, Johann Tobias Lowitz obtained pure ethanol by distilling the ethanol through activated carbon filtration.

Ethanol has a significant environmental impact, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70% compared to other fuels such as gasoline. But consumption tends to increase.
