• BLUE LAGOON. It's most famous for its steamy mineral-rich water and soft white silica mud, both of which have healing effects on the skin. It's 30 minutes away from the capital

• GOING TO THE ICELANDIC OPERA. The Icelandic Opera is an opera company that produces operas and concerts. Its productions emphasise mostly Icelandic artists.
• THE BLAFJOLL SKI RESORT. The ski area of Bláfjöll is only 25 minutes away from the cityn and it has 14 lifts.

It is believed that one of the first to set foot in the Land of Fire and Ice was the Greek traveler and explorer Pytheas, who in his chronicles told about an island six days north of Great Britain by ship around 330 BC. which he called Tule. Although many Vikings lived in this city.
