What is the agency for digital Italy?
The Agency for Digital Italy (abbreviated AgID) is an Italian public agency with the aim of reaching the highest level of technological innovation in the organization and development of the public administration, in compliance with the principles of legality, impartiality and transparency and according to criteria of efficiency, economy and effectiveness.

An important task of AgID is to accredit or authorize subjects (public or private) who carry out certain activities in the digital field (for example: electronic storage, digital certificates, time stamps, PEC, PagoPA, SPID intermediary, etc.).

CARACTERISTICS AND GOALS
The structure incorporates and inherits the competences previously assigned to the Innovation Technologies Dissemination Agency, DigitPA and the Innovation and Technology Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
carry out the tasks necessary for the fulfillment of the international obligations assumed by the State in the matters of competence;
reach the optimization of public administration spending on information technology
accredit the certifying subjects in the digital field (CA - Certification Authority), for example for the issue of a digital certificate, SPID, electronic storage, timestamp, etc.,
The goals of AgID are as follows:
ensure coordination of state, regional and local governments encouraging the adoption of infrastructures and standards that reduce the costs incurred by individual administrations and improve the services provided.
