This is a natural consequence of the struggle between development and environment. If a country decided to live isolated from the rest of the world, living on what it can naturally grow and produce, it surely wouldn’t be highly polluted. But we all want exotic food and technological items from all over the world, so we have to pay the price.

Your teacher wants to read a short passage from the book you have read to a class of younger students She aims to give them an idea of what the book is like and encourage them to read it. She has asked you to write a report saying which passage from the book would be most suitable and why. The teachers at your school have complained that many students are spending too much time using the Internet to visit social networking sites and chat rooms. They have asked the headteacher to disconnect the Internet from the school’s computer room as they feel it is not an appropriate use of school equipment. Write a report to the headteacher explaining why internet access should be available to the students. Make some suggestions about ways in which internet access can be controlled.
