How can WE get people to really recognize the value of becoming part of a learning community and experience the benefits of social learning?
Group work isn’t often done collaboratively by students
Instead, students see education as competition or a one-man sport
What is the problem?
- teaching tradition
- lack of scafolding
- competitive culture
- difficulty in assessment
- time constraints
- student anxiety
- lack of appreciation of collaboration
There are many reasons:
