The tour around Rovnoe

We present you a tourist route trough the settlement of Rovnoe, Saratov Region. The length of the route is 5 kilometers. It includes some main attractions, the places where history is closely intertwined with modernity. A walking tour begins with the historical center, where the History Museum is located. Without leaving the museum, you have an opportunity to visit another unique museum within it. This is the Watermelon Museum. The glory of the Rovnoe watermelon originates from the time of the German settlements of the first half of the 20th century. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Watermelon Museum was opened in Rovnoe.During the trip we will stop at the memorial "Silent Bell" and honor the memory of 3,115 residents of Rovnoe who did not return from the Great Patriotic War. In front of the main memorial there is a bust to the Marshal of the Great Victory - Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov.The tour ends in the most picturesque place of the village - on the embankment, where you can admire the view of the majestic Volga.

The Museum of Local Lore named after Nikolai Mikhailovich Pryakhin was opened on November 14, 1999. The museum is located in an old one-story building built in 1900. The museum's exposition is located in nine halls. Today, the Museum is a cultural and historical center that promotes the priceless heritage bequeathed by the ancestors. Currently, there are 7,108 items in the museum's collections related to the history of the Rovnoe district.

The Watermelon Museum was established in September 2015, on the basis of the Local history museum of the village of Rovnoe. The interior in two rooms is decorated so that you feel like inside a watermelon, It was done with the expectation that museum visitors will be able to feel the topic better and thus get better acquainted with the watermelon culture of the district – the history of the origin and cultivation of watermelons, achievements in growing watermelons in the district.

In the center of Rovnoe there is a memorial to 3150 soldiers, residents of Rovnoe who did not return from the Great Patriotic War. In the center of the memorial complex there is the Silent Bell monument as a symbol of sorrow and memory, on both sides of it there are monuments to the Heroes of the Soviet Union, Lieutenant General G. T. Vasilenko and Red Army soldier P. E. Trunkin. The complex was opened in 2000. The Eternal Flame burns in front of the monument. Behind the memorial there are seven plates with the names of the deceased villagers.

The Watermelon monument is located in the central park of the settlement. The original monument had a bronze colour! It has been restored several times.
