The light of the lanterns symbolizes love and human warmth. On November 11, the burial of St. Martin is celebrated and in tradition the lanterns symbolize the procession of the faithful. The lantern brings light into the darkness and is a symbol of hope.

WHAT AND WHEN IS IT?

At the beginning of winter celebrated in some countries of Europe. The Lantern Festival starts at about four in the afternoon and from there the lanterns are lit and you go around the village or the woods, and also turning to the stalls.These are also the days when you can taste the first chestnuts accompanied by a good wine.

Legend has it that one autumn day, probably November 11, while riding out of one of the gates of the French city of Amiens, where he lived, St. Martin saw a poor man, almost naked and cold because of bad weather. Martin then decided to cut off his woolen cloak and give half to the poor man.
