Where is located the maritime pine?

Is a pine to the south Atlantic Europe Region (France, Spain, Portugal) and parts of the western MediterraneanIt is also located in our area, bu not naturally since they were plantes by the pioneers of Pinamar, owners of Pinamar S.A and employees

Maritime Pine

  • To reproduce, pine trees produce male cones that are usually found on lower branches and contain pollen. The ovules are produced in the female cones, that are found on the highest branches and are much larger than the male cones
  • Is found in poor, sandy and acidic soils
  • Are vascular plants
  • Belong to the group of conifers

Main Characteristics

The scots pine can reach a height of 30 meters in 10 years

Reproduction

This resin is destiles and turpentine is obtained (used to make the turpentine that is used in the perfumery paint and vanish industry

A single pine produces about 3 liters of resin per year, sometimes reaching 5 liters

Its cones are used to light fires, they burn easily and their heat is maintained for a long time

In the late 1930s, the architec Jorge Bunge devised the planting of pine trees to fix the dragged sand
