The 7th grade AVID students are having a great start to their year, we have neen working on bonding as a class, organization methods, and recently have been busy learning about the 5 steps of the focused note taking process to assist them in their academic classes!

The 8th grade AVID students have been busy the last month of school learning about Cornell Notes and how they can be utilized to revisit and study material learned in class. They will soon begin learning about tutorials

AVID 9 students have done a fantastic job starting tutorials and collaborative study groups. Students have been engaged, highly productive, and are doing an excellent job of supporting each other. We have also spent time this month improving our financial literacy and completing college slideshows. It has been so much fun watching AVID 9 students transition into high schoolers! We are looking forward to an awesome November!

The AVID sophomores started the school year with a service learning project at feed my starving chidred. They have spend their AVID time recently learning about the different career clusters and identifying which ones they are most interested in!

The AVID juniors have hit the ground running with tutorials. They are supporting and encouraging one another in their depth of learning in all subject areas. In addition, they have recently completed a project learning about their individual personalities and how this impacts what types of strengths and weaknesses they bring to their friendships, family relationships, work, and school. This project will lead them into their next big task - career research!

The AVID have spent the month of October applying for colleges, taking advantage of the free college application month offered in the state of Minnesota. They have also enjoyed two visits from former AVID graduates who came to speak to them about their college and career paths. Next, students will be learning more about personal finance!
