What is an acceptable use policy?
Positives of AUPs
AUPs provide companies with a legal mechanism. If any employees/students/people violate the AUP, there will be consequences.
Disadvantages of AUPs
Who use AUPs?
Types of AUPs
Businesses and educational insituitions use acceptable use policies. Employees/students are required to sign an AUP before being allowed access to the corporate network.
A different type of an acceptable use policy would be BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). This is where some companies may allow employees to bring their own devices and use them for work. However, to minimise cybersecurity risks, the devices of the employees have to be controlled.
Acceptable Use Policies
AUPs have to be carefully developed and well thought-through.People will try to find loopholes in the AUP.
