What is personal strategic planning

Personal strategic planning is a technique developed in the service of people to achieve certain life goals. It is identifying your purpose and mission and exercising your intention in executing that plan to accomplish what you set out to achieve – not much different from organizational strategic planning. In fact, it is composed of the same elements:

Values

Vision

Mission

What determines which actions are the best to do?

Develop a mission statement

According to Kopplin Kuebler and Wallace a mission statement is "a statement of purpose of a company, organization, or person; its reason for existing" a mission statement should "guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a path and guide decision-making."

To encourage and equip students to be the best version of themselves and inspire change through teaching.

To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time.

Develop a vision statement

A vision statement represents what you wish to become or wish your life to be like. It embodies what your future self and future life will look like. A personal vision statement describes your personal values, your strengths, and your goals. It can be focused on life or professional goals, and it is intended to orient you toward your long-term dreams.

Strive to gain mastery over life and job challenges by seeking new sources for learning and growth and de-emphasizing those areas of concern over which I have no control

Position Starbucks as the world's leading supplier of fine coffees, without ever compromising its principles, and provide its customers and partners with an inspiring experience that enriches their day-to-day life.

Set your values

Values are traits or qualities that are not just worthwhile, they represent an individual's or an organization's highest priorities, deeply held beliefs, and core, fundamental driving forces. They are the heart of what your organization and its employees stand for in the world.

With our partners, our coffee and our customers at our core, we live these values:

  • Creating a culture of warmth and belonging, where everyone is welcome.
  • Acting with courage, challenging the status quo, and finding new ways to grow our company and each other.
  • Being present, connecting with transparency, dignity, and respect.
  • Delivering our very best in all we do, holding ourselves accountable for results.
We are performance-driven, through the lens of humanity.
