The design cycle
This process enables the designer to go from identifying a design opportunity to testing and evaluating a solution. The process is divided into four stages:inquiring and analysing, developing ideas, creating the solution and evaluating
What is the design cycle?
The design cycle is a model. Its purpose is to help students create and evaluate products/ solutions/ outcomes in response to any new challenges. The design cycle model below represents the MYP (middle years programme) design methodology of how designers develop products.
What is the purpos eof the design cycle
During the "Inquiring and Analyzing" section of the design cycle, students are presented with a situation or problem. This is where students will be brainstorming, researching, in order to find a solution
01 Step 1: Inquiring and analyzing
02 Step 2: Developing ideas
The second step of the design cycle is developing ideas. This is the stage in which students make design specifications, determine how many materials are required, estimate the time needed and go over details such as color and scale. Or in other words, planning the development of the idea and prepering for the next step
03 Step 3: Creating the solution
For this important step, technical skills are used to physically follow the plan made earlier to make the solution. At this point, designers should feel prepared to take their ideas off paper and create them with physical materials.
04 Step 4: Evaluating
This is the last step of the design cycle, which consists of different testing methods which are developed, also, the success of the solution is judged and any improvements to make the solution are identified. From here, the different stages can be repeated to further develop or advance the solution.
That is all, we hope you liked it and learned something new
