THE HUMAN BODY
INDEX
1. FUNCTION
2. PARTS
4. THE SENSE ORGANS
3. THE NEURON
The Nervous System controls everything that happens in your body.It also provides us with information from the environment, prepares responses to that information and sends commads to the rest of the organs to respond to those stimuli.
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM IS MADE UP OF:
- THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
- THE BRAIN
- THE SPINAL CORD
- THE PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
- THE NERVES
THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM IS MADE UP OF:
- THE BRAIN
- THE SPINAL CORD
THE PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM IS MADE UP OF NERVES (GROUPS OF NERVE CELLS OR NEURONS)
BRAIN The brain: - interprets the signals sent by the sense organs. - generates orders accordingly. - sends these orders out to the effectors through nerve signals called nerve impulses.
Neurons are the specific nervous system cells. They transmit information through nerves around the body. There are two types of neurons:1.- Sensory neurons detect information (stimuli) from the environment and send it to the brain or the spinal cord.2.- Motor neurons receive commands from the brain or the spinal cord and send them to the muscles and organs.According to the information received through sensory neurons, the brain (or the spinal cord) prepare a response (also based on experience) and send commands to the organs and muscles through the motor neurons.
NEURONS
Dendrites
DENDRITES ARE LIKE TENTACLES REACHING OUT FROM THE CELL BODY. THEY RECEIVE MESSAGES FROM OTHER NEURONS.
Nucleus
THE NUCLEUS IS THE NEURON'S CONTROL UNIT.
Axon
THE AXON IS A LONG TUBE THAT PASSES MESSAGES TO THE DENDRITES OF OTHER NEURONS.
Cell body
THE CELL BODY CONTAINS THE NUCLEUS THAT CONTROLS THE CELL AND OTHER ORGANELLES THAT KEEP IT ALIVE AND WORKING.
PUT ON EACH NAME TO HAVE A COMPLEMENTARY EXPLANATION
THE CEREBRUM
THE CEREBRUM IS THE LARGEST PART OF THE BRAIN. IT CONTROLS COMPLEX BRAIN FUNCTIONS SUCH US THINKING.
BRAIN ANATOMY
THE CEREBELLUM
THE CEREBELLUM HELPS US KEEP BALANCE AND CO-ORDINATE MOVEMENTS.
THE BRAIN STEM
THE BRAIN STEM CONNECTS THE BRAIN TO THE SPINAL CORD AND CONTROLS BASIC FUNCTIONS SUCH AS HEARTBEAT AND DIGESTION.
THE SENSE ORGANS
THE EYE
THE EAR
THE TONGUE
THE NOSE
THE SKIN
