When new products were produced people have to be persuaded to buy them.How was this done?
ADVERTISEMENTS
- Advertisements played an important role in expanding the markets for products.
- Advertisements made the products appear more desirable and necessary.
- Advertisements became a vehicle of the nationalist message of swadeshi.
CaLENDARS
- Calendars was used by manufacturers to popularise their products.
- They were used by people who could not read
- Figures of gods were used to sell new products
LABELS
- Images of Indian gods and goddesses were used regularly.
- Labels was also used as a mark of quality.
- When buyers saw 'MADE IN MANCHESTER' written in bold, they were expected to feel confident about buying the cloth.
- Labels was used by Manchester industrialists to make their company's name familiar to the buyer

- Images of emperors and nawabs were used in advertisements and calendars.
- Conveyed message - Quality of the product could not be questioned as it is used by the king.
