• In 1930 Dior ventured into fashion.
• In 1955 he was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Costume Design in the film Termini Station.

Life Information

Dior received the nicknamed New Look in 1947 for designs that included small waists and more feminine elements for women.

Christian Dior's legendary first collection was first presented on the 12th of February 1947 inspired in flowers. The "New Look", was inspired by 19th century Victorian and Edwardian eras was focusing on the hourglass figure and gave women a curvaceous form.
