Lack of proper records stands in the way of youth homeless and enrollment in education
High rates of substance abuse;
30 to 40% report alcohol abuse and 40 to 50 % report drug problems.
Elevated risk of mental health problems: anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and suicide due to exposure to violence.
Engagement in illegal activites (dealing drugs, stealing, prostitution) to obtain food and shelter but not being able to pay fees.
More likely to be physically or sexually victimized than those who aren't homeless.
Chronic conditions like lung issues, Tuberculosis, diabetes, HIVS/AiDS, and sexually transmitted diseases are prevelant.
