- The region was densely settled by miners as early as around 1200. - It was a prosperous mining town for gold, silver, and iron. - Right in the city center is a Renaissance tower, which was built in the mid-17th century.

The historic core of this mining town consists of a spacious square, the largest of its kind in Slovakia with several adjacent streets.

Until 1945, the manor house was used by the Betliar branch of the Andrássy family. The manor house became a museum with the exposition Housing Culture of the Nobility in the 18th and 19th century.

More than 14 thousand volumes from the 15th to 19th century written in 6 different languages have been preserved in the library.

One of the most remarkable things about the manor house is its main library. Leopold Andrássy established it in 1790.

It contains a picture gallery, music and hunting halls, a library, antique furniture and exotic collections. Its reconstruction won a EUROPA NOSTRA award.

It is a stately hunting manor surrounded by a wonderful English park including an artificial cave and waterfall

The Watchtower is one of the most interesting sights of the historic centre of the town. Origins of the tower date back to 1643. The Watchtower is 37 m high with 144 steps. The tower has gradually become a symbol of the town.

Mining Museum Gallery focuses on short-term museum and gallery exhibitions, both from its own resources and from other Slovak and foreign institutions

Which is more than a hundred years old, is one of three specialized mining museums in Slovakia and serves as the district museum of national history and geography.

Exposition focused on mining and metallurgy in Gemer is located in an impressive functional building from 1905

At the top of a hill overlooking the town of Krásnohorské Podhradie sits Krásna Hôrka Castle, one of the most beautiful historic landmarks of the picturesque Gemer region. The first recorded mention of the castle was in 1333. In 1578 the castle passed into the hands of Péter Andrássy and remained in the possession of the Andrássy family up until 1918.

Today there are 12 stops, 2 were demolished during the construction of the observatory.

The oldest monument of its kind in the whole territory of Gemer It was built on the initiative of the Jesuits In the 1930s, 14 new stops with colorful majolica reliefs were built, while the original chapels, which were already in a very poor condition, completely disappeared.
