Book study group 3
the pd book
Chapter 6: context
When you are asked to present pd for a group/school, what information do you gather to assist in your planning? what gaps have you identified? what "wins" have you experienced?
When have you had great success with pre-work? What do you do when participants haven't completed the pre-work? What were your thoughts regarding the welcoming email as suggested on p. 194-195?
Chapter 6: Pre-work and welcoming email
Were there any recommendations by the authors with regard to preparation or completing the PL that resonated with you?
Chapter 6: tips and tricks
thinking about your facilitation skills, how do you manage detours? What advice do you have for others on navigating detours?
"To faciltate adaptively means you hold lightly to your agenda so you can be responsive to what happens. Whether it's a question the facilitator didn't anticipate, an unforeseen conflict among participants, harm that happened, or resistance, detours happen (p. 211)."
What strengths do you bring to PL facilitation? How are your core values "shown" when you lead PL?
chapter 7: strengths and core values
Chapter 7: recalling a moment of detour
If you could go back and replay that moment, what would you do differently based on what you read in this chapter?
THe PD Book, p. 241
"May the PD you lead be purposeful, joyful, and transformative. May the PD you facilitate contribute to creating the conditions in which adults can learn and every child gets what they need and deserve in school in every day. May your PD heal and transform the world."
Conclusion
Audre Lorde
