Ignore the bully and do not give them the attention they seek
Try to maintain your calm when you notice the bullying situation and take a moment to breathe before you react. Do not take it personally and try to not let it affect who you are. This is a temporary moment that will soon pass and it should not define you. Don't let it become a negative experience with longer-term consequences.
If you feel negative about what happened, share your experience with a trusted friend or with a parent. Do not be afraid of being embarassed, there is nothing to be shy about.
Usually the bullies want to see your reactions and they crave the attention they receive this way. They can also enjoy seeing you being affected by their behaviour. DO NOT give them this satisfaction. Ignoring them will annoy them much more. Plus, if you retaliate you risk starting a cycle of insults and hatred in both directions.
Nobody deserves to be bullied no matter what they did or didn't do. The only fault lies with the bully, but make sure you do not retaliate and commit bullying yourself out of anger as well.
We never know what others are going through. But often people who engage in bullying are suffering themselves and bullying is simply a way through which they channel their anger, frustration or other negative emotions. Do not take it personally. Be kind, smile and try being compassionate.
Congratulations!

You have now (re)discovered various ways of responding to cyberbullying! What is your favourite or what would you add yourself? Share on your own social media channels with the hashtag #KindOnline!
If you notice someone being bullied, don't chose the easy option of ignoring and walking away. This way you just allow it to happen and expand. Instead, either confront the bully online or offer support to the victim.
In a respectful way, tell the cyberbully to stop and defend the person who was bullied. Nobody deserves to be treated in such a way no matter what they did. Be a protector and make sure you don't let such situations pass by, as you never know how much someone can actually get hurt behind the screen.
Send a quick message to the person who was bullied and let them know you support them and do not agree with the bully. This can sometimes mean a lot for that person, at very little time cost for you.
Make sure you report the bully to the platform / group administrator / in-game system. In most cases online harrassment is not allowed and is a breach of the community or game rules.
When you see a cyberbullying situation try to make sure it is solved and that the victim is offered support, but do not transform it into a crusade against the bully. Try to not launch yourself into lengthy online conflicts and emotional discussions which can lead to both you and others being hurt emotionally. Do what you can and move on.
Congratulations!
