The History of ARCHER

The Dawn of IT-GRC Self funded and founded in 2001, Archer Technologies had an innovative goal: build a tool that turned adhoc security procedures into true business processes. At the time, many security teams were using an assortment of methods to organize activities. As technology became an integral part of business opportunities, managing security risk became much more complex and and these approaches fell far short. Archer Technologies was focused on building a tool that centralized data being used by these teams and enable workflow to manage the growing needs of security teams. What emerged was the dawn of governance, risk and compliance solutions for IT known as IT-GRC.
The Evolution of GRC From 2003 - 2010, Archer saw amazing growth as Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) became increasingly important to companies. After the initial product launch in 2003 focused on core IT and security processes, Archer added multiple modules to expand the solution into risk management, business continuity and third party governance while racking up leadership positions in many different analyst reports. With the acquisition of Brabeion Software in 2009, Archer expanded its offering and had established itself as the clear leader in the GRC market.
The RSA Years The acquisition of Archer by RSA, the security division of EMC, in 2010, ushered in a new era. Given the long standing position of RSA in the security industry and its global reach, Archer expanded internationally extremely fast. Additionally, Archer brought a risk perspective to RSA highlighted in RSA's message of "Business Driven Security". Archer responded to industry shifts by focusing on the development of targeted use cases, expanding its portfolio of solutions and broadening the solution capabilities that continued to garner leadership positions in the market analyst reports.
Archer Launches into the New Era of Risk Management In 2020, Symphony Technology Group (STG) acquired RSA from Dell and Archer was launched as an independent business unit.
