An Egyptian collar, called usekh or wesek, was a personal decoration that lay around and over a person’s neck and shoulders.
The collars were made from various materials, including papyrus, and decorated with shells or wooden beads. For the wealthy, they included precious metals and stones like gold and lapis lazuli.

The collars were worn only by important members of Ancient Egyptian society. Initially, only pharaohs wore them but kings later gave them to important people as marks of honour.
