  • Doctors, Physicans are checking if there is a physical or psychic ground, if you have suspision of it

  • eating disorder examination tests are a reliable diagnostic tool in clinics

  • there are also Self-Assessment Questionnaires in the Internet

treatment

  • it can be treated both as inpatient and outpatient

  • special treatment concepts for therapeutic methodes

  • the cognitive behavioral therapy is in form of a diary about his eating habits and feelings

  • it can uncover the trigger for binging

  • the interpersonal therapy is going with the current life situation of the patient

  • medication for patients with for example depression

  • often runs in phases

  • some can eat normal for weeks but than get back binging

  • the course is more favorable in short term than with bulimia

prognosis

  • prognosis in each individual case depends on how severe the binge eating is

  • if binge eating and any concomitant dieseases are treated early and professionally, than the chances of recovery are good
