Past Simple
To talk about things in the past.
When do we use the past simple tense?
Irregular verbs: Matt saw an elephant. Jane ate a whole pineapple. They flew to America.
Regular verbs: Matt finished his homework. Lisa painted the house. They finished their food.
Subject + (verb + ed)/(past irregular verb)
How do we form the past simple tense?
- Affirmative: They were at school today.
- Negative: Lisa was not interested in the movie.
- Question: Were there cats at the show?
