Holmes and Watson are called to investigate strange crimes apparently related to the ancient curse that hangs over the Baskerville family. The killer appears to be a huge, black, dog-like animal, though larger than any other ever seen by a human creature." Drawn by the mystery of the case, our protagonists are soon drawn into a labyrinth of ancient superstitions and dark vendettas, set against the menacing and sinister backdrop of the Dartmoor moors.
He was a British writer and doctor, creator of the famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. He was a prolific author whose work includes science fiction stories, historical novels, plays, and poetry.
AUTHOR
DOCTOR WATSON: He is a physician, friend and chief assistant and confidant of Holmes; as he is the narrator of the story, there are few descriptions of him in the novel
HOLMES: A highly intelligent English detective, he is usually a late riser and, according to his partner Watson, is tall, slim, and athletically built. He usually wears an elegant suit and a cloth cap.
CHARACTERS
DR. MORTIMER: is the man who retains the services of Holmes for this case. He lives in the swamp and was a close friend of Sir Charles. Although he is a man of science, he somehow accepts the legend of the hound for lack of evidence to the contrary.
SR HENRY: is the nephew of Sir Charles Baskerville, and heir to the Baskerville estate and fortune. He has been farming in Canada before learning of his heritage. Bold, practical, and direct, but also impatient, hasty, and stubborn
CHARACTERS
SR.BARRYMORE: is the butler of Baskerville Manor, and the man who discovered Sir Charles's body after his death. He and his wife have worked at the mansion for a long time.
HUGO: is the Baskerville ancestor whose betrayal and wickedness supposedly brought the curse upon the family and their descendants.
SR. CHARLES:is the figure whose death motivates the investigation. A nervous and philanthropic man, Sir Charles was well liked among the local population.
CHARACTERS
DARTMOOR
The novel is primarily set on Dartmoor, in Devon, a county in the west of England. Conan Doyle wrote this story shortly after returning from South Africa, where he had worked as a medical volunteer at The Langman Field Hospital in Bloemfontein.
From my point of view, the book is very entertaining and gives you a lot of intrigue at all times. There are a lot of science fiction things but it has a very mysterious story that tells what they find and you get hooked. I really liked the very interesting book, I recommend reading it.
