Do you strongly agree or disagree with one of the quotes?
That would be a good starting point for your comment!
Choose a quote you want to write about and mark it on your sheet.
Read the quotes.
In pairs or groups of three: talk about some of the quotes.
What do you think? Is it true or false?
What do you know about the person who said that?
Do you like the quote? Why/why not?
Homework: introduction sentence for your comment
Write the introduction to your comment by putting your quote in reported speech and briefly stating your general opinion.
Example:
your quote | Your introduction sentence: |
"War is what happens when language fails." Margeret Atwood | Margarete Atwood once said that war was what happened when language failed. I think that is true. |
Next lesson:
Work on your comment by giving reasons and examples for your opinion.
You don't need the tense shift for the Dalai Lama quote. If you chose this quote, try to find out how to report it! (Tipp: google nach indirekte Rede Aufforderungen)
